I don’t know why Kraettli is spelled like that. I can tell you how to pronounce it though. Like CRATE and then LEE.
Kraettli is magical place. I really love it. It’s the cheapo campus apartments that are mostly occupied by international students. I have met people from all over the world, with the coolest stories–from China, Taiwan, India, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Mauritius, Cote D’Ivoire, Colombia, etc. Sometimes they make me food! It’s great!
My roommate Rachel and I originally moved here after our freshman year for the competitive pricing, and we ended up staying here because we love the atmosphere and the people (and also the pricing). We are trying to get to know these people and show them Christ’s love. It kind of feels like we are missionaries but cheating, because we get to stay in our American comfort zone, and God brings the nations to us. So good! Our ministry includes rides to Wal-Mart, heart-to-heart conversations, frisbee, helping with laundry or cooking, editing papers, etc. We are having weekly get-togethers every Thursday night, which so far mostly consist of talking and eating (and the Germans occasionally getting a little sassy about the lack of beer. Ha! Complain all you want amigo, all you get is Dr. Pepper). Rachel and I have been so blessed through these people and we’re hoping to bless them right back.
I could talk about this all day, so if you’re interested in hearing more, let me know. Keep us in your prayers!

Our ministry includes rides to Wal-Mart, heart-to-heart conversations, frisbee, helping with laundry or cooking, editing papers, etc. Last year we had weekly get-togethers (I guess we are calling it “Kraettli the Greatly”) every Thursday night, which mostly consisted of talking and eating (and the Germans occasionally getting a little sassy about the lack of beer. Ha! Complain all you want amigo, all you get is Dr. Pepper). This year we’re taking things a bit mellower and trying to get to build more one-on-one relationships with our foreign friends. So no weekly gatherings, but we’ve been doing a lot of movie nights, dinners, lunches, etc. I love these people! Rachel and I have been so blessed through these people and we’re hoping to bless them back.
